Therapeutic actions: • Sambucus nigra (Elder tree or Black elder buds) is widespread in nature. It is a plant of organic overload (excess weight, of non metabolised toxins), it is therefore recommended for obesity, and promotes the elimination of accumulated toxins in the body and helps with constipation. • It also has diuretic properties and is useful for kidney stones; it is the remedy for hydropsy. • Sambucus nigra will help decongest abdominal viscera and condylomata. • It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Clinical indications: • Digestive: Sambucus nigra is a valuable aid in cases of low digestion by facilitating decomposition of food. Constipation (atonic in the elderly people), serous discharges, abdominal congestion, hemorrhoids, accumulation of toxins. • Uro-genital: Oedema, anuria, acute nephritis with oedema, ascites, hydropsy, nephrolithiasis, condylomata. • Musculoskeletal: Anti-inflammatory, neuralgia, rheumatism (muscular / articular). • Immune stimulating, antiviral, antibacterial. Prevention and treatment of influenza, sinusitis, bronchitis, laryngitis, herpes outbreak, croupy cough.
Consider in combination with: • Viburnum lantana, Ribes nigrum, for asthma • Rosa canina, for rhinopharyngitis • Carpinus betulus, for chronic conditions like sinusitis, rhinitis, bronchitis

Dose
Adults and children > 12 years • Depending on the patient and the problem being treated, 5-10 drops daily are recommended. • To start with, 5 drops should be taken; this dose can be increased by one drop daily to reach a maximum of 15-20 drops daily, until the required and stable result is acquired. The dosage is then maintained for the remainder of the treatment period. • The length of the treatment depends on the health problem and the gemmotherapy remedy used. Normally it is recommended that the treatment be continued for three (3) months. The treatment should last for a minimum of three weeks and can be repeated several times, allowing for example a treatment-free week between each course. • One or two remedies, the most applicable, can be combined; more are not usually necessary. However, the complexes have the advantage of combining several extracts in one formula, thus facilitating the treatment. A complex may, if considered necessary, be combined with another complex or individual bud extract.
