• Antihemorrhagic: acts on megacaryocytes, increasing platelet numbers and through agglutination
• Acute and chronic respiratory /conditions: antispasmodic, antitussive, repairs damaged respiratory mucosa

Description

Therapeutic actions:
• Carpinus betulus is an essential remedy for coagulation problems. It acts on the megacaryocytes, increases the activity of the platelets, decreasing the bleeding time and seems to normalise the prothrombine time.
• Respiratory system: Acts as an antispasmodic and has a specific action on the sinusal mucosa and becomes useful in ENT pathologies in general.
• Hepatic system: Lowers cholesterol levels.

Clinical indications:
• Coagulation problems: Increases platelets and their cytological quality (agglutination) for acquired thrombo-cytopenia (auto-immune / drug allergies / splenectomy / drug induced, complications of anticoagulants poisoning by anticoagulants and hemorrhages due to them.
• Carpinus betulus is an antihemorrhagic useful in purpuras and hemorrhages due to anticoagulants (then associated with Cornus sanguinea).
• Respiratory system: Acts as an antispasmodic and presents a specific action on the sinusal mucosa. Active in all recurrent respiratory episodes in adults, spasmodic and chronic rhinopharyngitis, chronic sinusitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, healing the damaged mucosa and alleviating spasms (antitussive). Carpinus betulus is an excellent remedy for sinusitis, spasmodic rhinitis and chronic bronchitis.
• Hepatic system: Eliminates cholesterol and works in atherosclerosis. Liver insufficiency.
• Musculoskeletal system: Carpinus betulus acts in post-medicamentous periarthritis nodosa and in progressive chronic polyarthritis.

Note: Use in low doses and with awareness and monitoring in cases of thrombocytosis, elevated PTT or fibrinogen. Doses of 12 drops per day or less are less likely to increase the platelet count.

Consider in combination with:
• Cornus sanguinea, for epistaxis
• Cornus sanguinea, for hemorrhaging provoked by anticoagulant medications
• Populus nigra, to stop PND (painful neuropathic disorder)
• Rosa canina, runny nose
• Betula pubescens and Ribes nigrum, rhinopharyngitis
• Corylus avellana, chronic bronchitis

Quantity

0.05 ml (extract 1:20 …. 2.5 mg )

Dose

Adults and children > 12 years
• Depending on the patient and the problem being treated, 5-10 drops daily are recommended.
• To start with, 5 drops should be taken; this dose can be increased by one drop daily to reach a maximum of 15-20 drops daily, until the required and stable result is acquired. The dosage is then maintained for the remainder of the treatment period.
• The length of the treatment depends on the health problem and the gemmotherapy remedy used. Normally it is recommended that the treatment be continued for three (3) months. The treatment should last for a minimum of three weeks and can be repeated several times, allowing for example a treatment-free week between each course.
• One or two remedies, the most applicable, can be combined; more are not usually necessary. However, the complexes have the advantage of combining several extracts in one formula, thus facilitating the treatment. A complex may, if considered necessary, be combined with another complex or individual bud extract.

Potential side effects/Safety

Clinical experience:
• Use low doses while taking into account its anticoagulant properties and the need for monitoring in cases of thrombocytosis, PTT levels or elevated fibrinogen levels
• Do not use for extended periods without verifying the platelet levels
• History of coagulation disorders or anterior thrombotic problems
• A dosage of 12 drops daily = low probability of increasing platelet levels
