Aesculus hippocastanum (Horse chestnut) buds
Description
Therapeutic actions: • Aesculus hippocastanum is mainly a venous remedy (portal circulation enhancement). It has anti-inflammatory properties through its action on easing venous congestion. It also eases breathing (possibly by removing venous congestion). Aesculus hippocastanum has a perfect digestive tolerance.
Clinical indications: • It is recommended for broken capillaries, spider veins, telangiectasis, blotched face and periulcerous erythema. • Is one of the remedies used for varicose ulcers. It is especially recommended for hemorrhoids (anti-hemorrhaging), in particular those with red blood hemorrhages and also at the time of acute hemorrhoidal thrombosis. A venous decongestant that is a great remedy for varicose veins. • Acnerosacea. • Facilitates breathing and is indicated in emphysema, pulmonary insufficiency, dilatation of the bronchus, chronic asthma. Shortness of breath. Disturbances of venous flow (phlebotonic).
Consider in combination with: • Castanea vesca, as it drains the lymphatic system and different venous disorders • Sorbus domestica and Castanea vesca, lymph/vein drainage insufficiency • Alnus glutinosa, thrombophlebitis • Sorbus domestica, hemorrhoids • Birch sap, cellulite • Cornus sanguinea, dyspnea

0.05 ml (extract 1:20 …. 2.5 mg )
Dose
Adults and children > 12 years • Depending on the patient and the problem being treated, 5-10 drops daily are recommended. • To start with, 5 drops should be taken; this dose can be increased by one drop daily to reach a maximum of 15-20 drops daily, until the required and stable result is acquired. The dosage is then maintained for the remainder of the treatment period. • The length of the treatment depends on the health problem and the gemmotherapy remedy used. Normally it is recommended that the treatment be continued for three (3) months. The treatment should last for a minimum of three weeks and can be repeated several times, allowing for example a treatment-free week between each course. • One or two remedies, the most applicable, can be combined; more are not usually necessary. However, the complexes have the advantage of combining several extracts in one formula, thus facilitating the treatment. A complex may, if considered necessary, be combined with another complex or individual bud extract.

Clinical experience: • Do not apply to broken or irritated skin (the saponins may cause irritation) • Possible drug interactions with Anticoagulants (increases the risk of bleeding) and Hypoglycemiants (oral/insulin), risk of hypoglycemia
