Citrus limonum (Lemon-tree) bark
Therapeutic actions:
• Citrus limonum acts as a blood fluidifier; it regulates the blood coagulation mechanism and is a true alternative to aspirin, without posing the risk of ulcer formation as in allopathic aspirin.
• Indicated when there is an increase of blood fibrinogen, anticoagulant.
• Acts as a complementary synergistic remedy, making more potent the actions of other remedies.
• Citrus limonum increases the blood flow quickly.
• Lowers cholesterol, triglycerides & fibrinogens.
Clinical indications:
• Cardiovascular system: Blood fluidifier (varicose veins / arteritis / infarction), hyperlipidemia, TIA'S, thick blood (high fibrinogen). Calms down palpitations (use in combination with other gemmos in arrhythmia, Buerger's disease, Raynaud's syndrome).
• Digestive system: Hiccups (antispasmodic), digestive complaints, dyspepsia, cirrhosis of the liver.
o Moreover it effectively suppresses hiccups and relieves spasmodic coughs and painful twitching.
• Nervous system: Nervous headaches & migraines, neuro-toxic syndrome, cervical arthrosis associated with vertigo, depression. Maxillofacial TMJ. Also intervenes in epileptic syndromes (petit mal), neurasthenia and insomnia.
Consider in combination with:
• Sorbus domestica and Castanea vesca, for varicosities of the legs
• Cornus sanguinea and Prunus amygdalus, for anticoagulant action
• Ilex aquifolium, for certain epileptic situations
• Cercis siliquastrum, TIAs
• Olea europaea, to lower lipids and cholesterol
• Betula verrucosa, for onset of bacterial infections
• Rosmarinus officinalis, to enhance liver drainage
• Fraxinus excelsior and Juniperus communis, for gout
• Ficus carica, for sluggish digestion
• Tilia tomentosa, for insomnia, using Citrus limonum and Ficus carica during the day and Tilia tomentosa at night
• Juniperus communis, for elevated liver enzymes
0.05 ml (extract 1:20 …. 2.5 mg )
Adults and children > 12 years
• Depending on the patient and the problem being treated, 5-10 drops daily are recommended.
• To start with, 5 drops should be taken; this dose can be increased by one drop daily to reach a maximum of 15-20 drops daily, until the required and stable result is acquired. The dosage is then maintained for the remainder of the treatment period.
• The length of the treatment depends on the health problem and the gemmotherapy remedy used. Normally it is recommended that the treatment be continued for three (3) months. The treatment should last for a minimum of three weeks and can be repeated several times, allowing for example a treatment-free week between each course.
• One or two remedies, the most applicable, can be combined; more are not usually necessary. However, the complexes have the advantage of combining several extracts in one formula, thus facilitating the treatment. A complex may, if considered necessary, be combined with another complex or individual bud extract.
