Abies alba (Silver fir) young shoots
Therapeutic actions:
• Abies alba (an excellent pediatric remedy) especially in disorders associated with growth and bone tissue metabolism (phosphocalcic). It promotes mineral balance and prevents demineralisation due to its stimulating action on calcium fixation (it works efficiently in spasmophilia).
• Excellent for growing pains, excellent mineraliser.
• Stimulates erytropoiesis and bone marrow; stimulates immunity through bone marrow activation.
• A good immunity booster because it works at the initial sign of infection.
• Abies alba is a remedy of yang nature related to the element spleen and metal in Chinese medicine.
Clinical indications:
• Relieves backaches, osteomyelitis, osteochondritis, and vertebral epiphysitis.
• Helps consolidate fractures (osteoblastic action), for which it facilitates the formation of bone callus. It is indicated for children growing too rapidly, for slim, tall people of phosphoric type, tall rachitic children with poor appetite.
• Decalcification, osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.
• Dental cavities by reducing the acid pH of the mouth. Poor enamel of the teeth.
• At respiratory level, Abies alba produces an effect in throat and general ENT infections. Allergies, childhood asthma.
• At blood level it stimulates erythropoiesis, demonstrating its stimulating action on bone marrow and bone metabolism in general (it certainly constitutes a potential remedy for anemia and leukemia).
Consider in combination with:
• Pinus montana, for bone remineralisation and bone fractures
• Ribes nigrum and Rosa canina, for rhinopharyngitis
• Betula verrucosa and Rosa canina, for growth disruptions
• Betula verrucosa, for dental cavities, periodontal disease, bone recession
• Ficus carica, for anorexia
• Quercus robur, for enuresis
• Betula verrucosa (seed), for children on the chronic antibiotic cycle
• Rubus fructisocus, for osteoporosis
• For primary and secondary growth conditions, Betula verrucosa regenerates the terrain and Abies alba prompts auto-regeneration.

Adults and children > 12 years
• Depending on the patient and the problem being treated, 5-10 drops daily are recommended.
• To start with, 5 drops should be taken; this dose can be increased by one drop daily to reach a maximum of 15-20 drops daily, until the required and stable result is acquired. The dosage is then maintained for the remainder of the treatment period.
• The length of the treatment depends on the health problem and the gemmotherapy remedy used. Normally it is recommended that the treatment be continued for three (3) months. The treatment should last for a minimum of three weeks and can be repeated several times, allowing for example a treatment-free week between each course.
• One or two remedies, the most applicable, can be combined; more are not usually necessary. However, the complexes have the advantage of combining several extracts in one formula, thus facilitating the treatment. A complex may, if considered necessary, be combined with another complex or individual bud extract.
Clinical experience:
• Do not use in cases of hyperthyroidism
• Do not use in the presence of calcic calculi
• Do not use for patients that tend to accumulate calcium
