TEA TREE OIL: AUSTRALIA'S UNIQUE HEALING PLANT REDISCOVERED

A member of the myrtle family, Tea Tree is largely native to Australia, where the aboriginal peoples held its leaves in high regard for both religious and medicinal purposes.

It's the leaves that are the source of Tea Tree Oil, which has remarkable antiseptic and antifungal properties, so remarkable, in fact, that, during World War II, it was issued to Allied soldiers worldwide and was so highly valued that Australian plantation workers were exempt from military service.

With today's resurgent interest in botanical medicine and growing awareness of the problems associated with antibiotics and other pharmaceutical drugs, Tea Tree is making a dramatic comeback.

In this vein, the authors of a recent scientific study conclude that, “Antibiotic-resistant bacteria continue to be a major health concern worldwide. In particular, Staphylococcus aureus, both methicillin-resistant and sensitive, are of concern in their ability to cause difficult skin and underlying tissue infections. Melaleuca alternifolia oil (Tea Tree Oil), an essential oil, has demonstrated promising efficacy in treating these infections. Tea Tree Oil has been used for centuries as a botanical medicine, and has only in recent decades surfaced in the scientific literature as a promising adjunctive wound treatment. Tea Tree Oil is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and has demonstrated ability to activate monocytes.”(1)

Tea Tree Oil has, indeed, been shown to be particularly effective in the treatment of stubborn fungal nailbed infections.

Pure Tea Tree steam-distilled essential oil

Quantity

Available in bottle sizes of 30ml, 100ml, 250ml, 500ml, 1000ml

Dose

Adults: apply topically 2-3x daily or as needed. Place 10-20 drops in shampoo for use as a wash for scalp conditions including dandruff. Dilute with olive oil for more widespread conditions like athlete's foot.
